The Janice Kemp Award is now in its third year. This year we are seeking nominations from case studies and compliments given by Clients and their families over the course of the year, as well as peer nominations and direct Client nominations.
In memory of Janice
In September 2023, we lost our beloved Head of Care for the Cherish Group, Janice Kemp.
Janice was a well-respected and vital member of the Senior Management Team of Cherish; bringing her passion for quality, her commercial acumen, her natural compassion, attention to detail and unwavering diligence in all she did.
As Head of Care, she demanded the highest standards in the services we provide, and was passionate about doing a job well. She understood that working in social care is a vocation, and keenly recognised the emotional intelligence required to be the very best.
Always with good humour, Janice not only celebrated our wins, but she is best remembered as a leader who wanted to encourage, develop, promote and assist those who needed a bit of help to find their way. Never soft, but always compassionate and understanding.
In her memory, we have designed an annual award – the Janice Kemp Award for Excellence. Awarded at the end of each November (Janice’s birthday month), this £1000 prize is given to a Cherish member of staff who has demonstrably upheld Janice’s values – someone we think Janice would have recognised and championed herself.

Self nominations will not be accepted – you can grab some nomination forms from the office to give to your Clients.

Criteria
- Can be anyone who works for Cherish in the field – home care or supported living
- Must have 12 months long service or more
- Must have a generally good record
- Can be to recognise a one off act of excellence or general high standards in care
- Judging panel includes the Senior Management Team plus extra judges
- In case of dispute or query, the Chairman’s decision is final
